So last weekend I signed up for the Rock n Roll half marathon so I guess I need to be training for real now. I had been feeling under the weather for a lot of this week so it felt good to get out for a run tonight. It was a nice cool night.

- 80s sunny
Man! What a great day! Perfect weather for a run. I decided to try the distance feature on my Nike+ thing. I set it for 4 miles and got going. It seems pretty cool and seemed pretty accurate (I guess?). Felt good concidering I haven't run in a while. I'm running out of weather excuses to not run any more so I might have to start getting serious.

| Run In The Rain |
[Apr. 27th, 2009|09:23 pm] |
- 27:28
- streets/trails
- Chicago
- 60s and raining
So before I realized it was going to rain I had decided I should go on a quick run. Once I got going it felt great to run in the rain. This was also my first run with the Nike+ iPod thing. It announces your time in your headphones and tracks your workout. I need to see how it calculates distance and what I can do with the data on my computer, but it seems like it will be fun to play around with.

| First Run Of The Season |
[Apr. 17th, 2009|06:58 pm] |
- 28:39
- streets/trails
- Chicago
- low 60s
So this is the first run back after a loooong break. This run always kind of sucks, but I've been doing some cross training on the bike the last few months at the gym so that helped. The first part of the run everything felt rusty but after about 20 minutes I felt myself fall back into a bit of a stride. I need to decide on a race to sign up for so I have some motivation to keep up with this regularly.

| Chicago Half Marathon: A Soggy Success |
[Sep. 14th, 2008|08:58 pm] |
- 1:33:50 (13.1 miles)
- roads
- Chicago
- cold and rainy!
Well race day came and it was raining. All day. It was hard to warm up and stretch, but we made due. Once the race started I didn't even notice the rain. The start was pretty crazy and I had to spend most of the first mile or 2 getting around people who were running slower than me. I managed to settle into a nice pace and just zone out for the middle of the race, picking off and keeping pace with people around me. I only really felt tired around the 10 mile mark, but got a second wind shortly after that. I felt like I had a solid kick at the end, too. I was really happy with this race and hit my realistic goal of running under 1:35:00, even despite the weather.

Just went on a short run to keep my legs loose. This ended up being the last run before the race.

I should have gotten out this week to do some running, but stuff kept coming up. Now I need to start getting ready for race day. From here on out I'll be tapering a bit.

| Long Run In WA |
[Aug. 31st, 2008|06:29 pm] |
- ~1:47:00 ( about 12.6 miles)
- trails
- Seattle, WA
- 55 and cloudy
I was out in Washinton this weekend visiting family and my dad and I got a long run in on Sunday. We found a great trail near my uncle's house and did a solid 12.5 miles. I felt really good, felt strong the whole time, and had a lot of energy at the end. The cool weather helped a lot. Hopefulyl we have weather like that on race day. After doing a run this close to race distance I feel really good about this half marathon.

| Run From Cary |
[Aug. 24th, 2008|04:33 pm] |
- 29:38
- roads and sidewalks
- Cary
- 74 and sunny
Well I was back in Cary today to pick up my car and I figured that while I was hanging out here without many distractions I'd just go for a quick run. This was just something to kick my legs out a bit and get me loosened up for a longer run that I need to do soon. |

| Solid Run |
[Aug. 19th, 2008|06:19 pm] |

This was a good run after doing long miles on Saturday. I felt a bit sluggish at first, maybe because I had been falling asleep on the couch before got up to go running, but the 2nd half of my run felt really good. |

| Long Run w/ My Old Man |
[Aug. 16th, 2008|06:03 pm] |
- ~1:30:00 ( about 10 miles)
- trails
- Chicago
- 70s
So my old man came downtown to do a longer run. This was the first time I had done over 7 since I started training for this half marathon. I felt really good. Around the 5 or 6 mile mark I was pretty tired but got a 2nd wind and felt really strong near the end. I definitely could have run another 3.1 miles when we were done. |

| Wandering Run |
[Aug. 12th, 2008|08:05 pm] |
- 33:05
- sidewalks and dirt trails
- Chicago
- 77ish
I decided to wander more on this run. I started running through the streets a bit, got bored of that and ended up running on some of the dirt trails that are closer to the lake than my normal running trails. I didn't feel as good as I did on Sunday, maybe because I needed to kick my legs out a bit from that run, but I still got out there and got some miles in. |

| Sunday is Run Day |
[Aug. 10th, 2008|08:31 pm] |
- 42:22
- trails
- Chicago
- 70ish and cooler... a little later in the day
After being to lazy to go running yesterday I finally got out tonight. Felt great. Focused a lot on my stride and form and held a REALLY strong pace the whole time. My only complaint was that I kept running through big swarms of bugs and getting them in my mouth and eyes. |

| Back After Moving |
[Aug. 7th, 2008|07:36 pm] |
- 43:19
- trails
- Chicago
- upper 60s
This was my first run from my new apartment. I had been really busy with moving and missed some of my running this week, but I came back and felt great. I hadn't intended to run this far, but the weather was nice and I had a lot of energy, so I just kept going. |

Felt good today, went a little further than my standard off day distance. I also saw Eric Limburg while I was running. That was odd. |

| Still Running |
[Aug. 1st, 2008|06:53 pm] |

Felt good today. Nothing fancy about today's run. I feel more like running is a regular part of my days now, which is good. As of Wednesday I'm officially signed up for the Half Marathon. |

| Feeling Great! |
[Jul. 29th, 2008|08:29 pm] |
- 54:55
- trails
- Chicago
- 80 and nice
I felt great today! I wasn't sure how far I was going to go when I left today, but I felt really good and had a great stride, so I just kept going. I felt like I could have gone further, but I really want to ease up my mileage. I think moving too fast is how I hurt myself when I was training for the marathon. I definitely ran negative splits. If I can keep this up and train smart I should be in good shape for the half (which I still need to sign up for). |

| Run It Off |
[Jul. 26th, 2008|08:39 pm] |

I woke up late today and had to go do something so I wasn't a total waste of space. I didn't feel really great, but it felt good to get out and run off a long night before. |

| After Work Run |
[Jul. 25th, 2008|06:10 pm] |
- 41:23
- trails
- Chicago
- 83 humid
I got off early today so I decided to take a run. I felt good and had a good stride. I think I can keep up a better schedule from here on on out. I still haven't signed up for the half, yet. I need to do that. |

| Trying To Run More Regularly |
[Jul. 22nd, 2008|07:24 pm] |
|
Oh man, what great weather for a run. I went out for a run after work today and felt fantastic. I got into a great stride and it felt like my legs just moved on their own. I think I'm going to sign up for the half marathon in September, so I need to really get my act together and start running more regularly. I'm going to try to find a good training plan and stick to it. |
